Bourn Sisters
posted in Mum StoriesSometimes it feels like there is always something wrong with my baby. He is generally a healthy happy bundle of joy, but I'm finding the older he's getting the more I feel myself making excuses for him being grizzly.
If it's not lack of sleep, it's his teeth coming through, or he's caught a cold from his older cousin. It's seems to be a continuous cycle of small things that cause my little one pain and me stress. When does it stop? I have a feeling never, and coping with it can definitely be a struggle sometimes. Especially because one tends to trigger them all!
My son is teething really badly at the moment which has resulted in continuous waking through the night and grumpy crying all day long. He has always been an amazing sleeper so for me this has been a real shock. He's also had really bad diarrhoea from the teething and a snotty nose!
It's an awful combination that I don't wish on any baby or mum. How are we supposed to deal with explosive nappies and a baby who won't happily have their nappy changed without screaming? With difficulty is the answer.
Its amazing what a few hours less sleep can do to your baby (and you). Sleep is so important and I find whenever he has less, it's harder to actually get him to sleep even though he's more exhausted. It's a nasty cycle that's pretty hard to break but hang in there, it doesn't last forever!
My baby has wanted a lot more comforting and feeding than normal which I've happily given him, even if it's felt like we've been attached at the hip.
It's so draining watching my baby in pain, but seeking support from my family and friends has helped me cope massively. Make sure you do the same if you're going through something similar!
